Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, Washington, is a waterpark resort that hosts approximately 2,000 guests per day. Korsmo Construction completed the major renovation of core areas while the resort was fully occupied and operational. Renovations included a modernized grand lobby with reception and immersive performance area; a live-action game center; 10,000-square-foot arcade; themed restaurants; multiple counter-service eateries; retail shops; waterpark cabanas; and updates to restrooms and locker rooms and the 20,000-square-foot conference center.
The lobby’s central staircase was demolished and relocated, which required building a temporary staircase for public use during construction. For each area being renovated, an equivalent temporary restaurant/retail outlet was built to maintain operations.
The renovation achieved 31 milestones in 26 phases with 21 different completion dates. Each individual project was completed on its own critical path method schedule. Complex phasing, innovative containment strategies, and strict safety standards allowed the resort to continue providing an exceptional guest and staff experience during construction.
