The new 5,913 square foot branch was constructed adjacent to the existing branch on McChord Air Force Base, and allowed Harborstone Credit Union to remain open for business during construction. Due to the seamless transition between buildings, the branch never lost a day of business during construction. The new branch was designed and built using the design-build project delivery method and is LEED Silver Certified. Features include LED Lighting and a VRF HVAC system, both of which increase occupancy quality and comfort while reducing energy costs.
The building is comprised of wood framing, brick veneer, metal roofing, curtain walls, as well as blast-proof windows adhering to JBLM Anti –Terrorism/ Force Protection (ATFP) standards. The design-build delivery allowed flexibility for the bank to coordinate design and installation of banking systems such as access control, security, ATM, and other banking equipment. An architectural steel lattice connecting the drive thru canopy to the bank allowed pneumatic tubing to be easily maintained and remain concealed. Interior features include ceramic tile, carpet, quartz counter tops, skylights, 12-foot high lobby ceilings and architectural wood lattices over teller and service areas.
