Korsmo Construction began the $1.4 million design-build project in mid-January 2005, and the first swimmers dove in on July 4, 2005. The complex presents a spectacular view of American Lake in Lakewood and offers members and guests a family-oriented space. Carved out of the side of the hill leading to American Lake, the pool represented a major construction challenge.
The half Olympic-sized pool is surrounded by the lower deck and outdoor seating, a spa and a children’s pool. Finished concrete stairs lead down to the lakeside level. All decking and stairs are finished concrete with metal railings. The elevator shaft is concrete and wood-framed, exhibiting a clock-tower design.
The project received a 2006 AGC Excellence in Construction Award.
