Korsmo Construction recently completed the new 50,000-square-foot health and wellness center for the Nisqually Tribe. The center provides a medical clinic, dental clinic, pharmacy, natural healing center, and mental health services.
The design focuses on incorporating the Nisqually Health Department’s concept of holistic healing. The Healing Circle, a signature feature encompassing spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional health, was a guiding principle for the design. The natural finishes and open plan offer connections to nature and abundant daylight. A central glass corridor filled with plants and a boardwalk to imitate the Nisqually Delta Wildlife Refuge runs through the building and provides a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces.
The health center also includes a child-focused waiting area replete with a fish tank, low cubby climbing wall, and whimsical tooth-shaped windows in the dental areas.
