Cape Flattery School District New K-12 Campus at Neah Bay

The Cape Flattery School District (CFSD) Neah Bay New K-12 Campus is a progressive design-build project funded in part by the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) School Seismic Safety Grant.

The 110,000-square-foot school includes academic, athletic, and extracurricular spaces for 600 students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The campus will also contain offices for the district’s administrative and operations departments. Working closely with the school district and the Makah Tribe, progressive design-build partners Korsmo Construction and TCF Architecture are constructing a facility that safely houses the district’s elementary, middle, and high school students and consolidates operations outside the region’s high tsunami risk zone.

Key features of the Neah Bay campus include the integration of traditional Makah culture. The design incorporates spaces throughout the building specifically created to meet the community’s unique programming needs, including career and technical education (CTE), Makah language education, Makah educational practices, and cultural programs bridging past, present, and future generations.

Site-specific conditions at Neah Bay include coastal climate and compact design on a steep slope with significant environmental planning. In addition to the OSPI Seismic Grant, funding sources include the School Construction Assistance Program (SCAP) and Funded Biennium (2025-2027).
