Our collaborative approach to Preconstruction Services incorporates our experience as a General Contractor into the upfront design and planning of the project. Case Study

Mary Bridge Family Pavilion

Inspired by similar facilities at other major and minor league team facilities, the Tacoma Rainiers had a vision to build a children’s play area inside Cheney Stadium. The organization wanted to provide a more engaging and fun atmosphere to the ballpark; however, with no design and a very limited budget, the Rainiers needed guidance on how to execute their vision.

Korsmo’s Preconstruction Department was highly engaged in the planning, design and execution of this design-build project; Korsmo assisted with selecting the design firm (Bruce Dees & Associates) and provided strong input on pricing, materials and play structures. Strong value engineering efforts allowed us to maximize the owner’s budget and bring their idea to life.

This highly collaborative project had many different stakeholders, including the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks of Tacoma and the Cheney Foundation, and our team worked diligently to ensure all their needs were met.  The Mary Bridge Family Pavilion includes a regulation-size wiffle ball field and innovative play structures for kids of all ages.

Self Performed Work

Along with site supervision, safety and construction management services, Korsmo frequently self-performs scopes of work such as structural building concrete, foundations, steel installations and carpentry in order to ensure the best possible product is delivered to our owners.
