Martin J. Neeb Center/KPLU Radio Station

The Martin J. Neeb Center is home to the 88.5 KPLU radio station and the all-Jazz web stream, Jazz24. The building was specifically designed to support the station’s technical broadcasting needs, including on-air studios, production rooms, small performance space and offices. Korsmo Construction and Helix Design Group collaborated as one cohesive team to complete this Team-Build project. Through integrated project delivery, Helix and Korsmo Construction were able to complete design and construction on schedule.

The building is composed of structural steel framing with an exterior metal system of pre-finished standing seam panels and aluminum windows. The building operates off of a geothermal heat pump, allowing for high efficiency heating and cooling. The owner’s original requirement was for the Neeb Center to achieve LEED Silver Certification, but Korsmo was able to find innovative ways to gain extra points and achieve LEED Gold. According to the US Green Building Council, the Neeb Center is the only radio facility in the nation that has achieved LEED Gold Certification.

Korsmo’s construction team, from the superintendent on down, were all top notch and their hard work and attention to detail made my job a pleasure.
